Whether you’re in search of paved family-friendly trails, exhilarating doubletrack and singletrack combos through the national forest or a scenic road bike route around the lake, mountain biking in Bear Lake caters for all ages and levels of skill with miles of easily accessible mountain biking trails in and around Bear Lake. Be aware that in the summer months and holiday weekends the road can become very congested and remember, always bike responsibly on Utah’s trails!
The Bear Lake Legacy Pathway is an easy, flat and family-friendly 4.5-mile trail that follows Hwy 30 from the Bear Lake Harbor Marina in Harbor Village through Garden City to Ideal Beach Resort on the shores of Bear Lake. This trail is perfect for walking, riding or strolling along the shoreline and is not complete without a stop for one of Bear Lake’s famous Raspberry Shakes!
The road bike route around Bear Lake begins at the junction of Hwy 89 and Hwy 30 in Garden City. This paved 52-mile loop is an easy ride with not much elevation gain, rolling hills and spectacular lake views. The eastern shores of Bear Lake are quieter however the trail can get busy along the western side of the lake. Locals suggest this route is done clockwise to enjoy the best views of Bear Lake.
Park at the Bear Lake Summit Trailhead on Hwy 89 for an easy to moderate 15.5-miles one way mountain bike adventure through conifer forests, the famous sinks, Log Cabin Hollow and Temple Canyon to the town of Meadowville.
From Meadowville you can ride the easy to moderate 15-mile loop through Laketown and back to Meadowville. Park at the old Rock store in Meadowville and head north through the Round Valley area and a historic ghost town dating back to the early pioneer settlers with a cemetery, wooden schoolhouse and old mansion.
The Laketown Canyon Trail is a moderate to difficult trail that is loads of fun for experienced riders. The trail is 7-miles out and back and starts at the Rodeo Arena in Laketown. Prepare to get wet with plenty of stream crossings, a reservoir halfway up and a spring at the top of the trail.
The Swan Creek Mountain Trail is a moderate 4.5-mile loop that begins in Lakota, just north of Garden City. This is a mostly flat ride with some steep spots along the way and joins back with Hwy 89.
St Charles is located on the northwestern shores of Bear Lake across the Idaho border. From Minnetonka Cave Road, take a scenic climb on the out and back paved trail up the scenic St Charles Canyon to the Minnetonka Caves with fascinating stalagmites and stalactites. The caves are open from June to September with daily tours.
Bloomington Lake is a 10-acre glacial lake nestled in the steep limestone cliffs of the Bear River mountain range. The 9-mile trail begins in Bloomington, heads up the canyon, through the Caribou-Cache National Forest and onto the scenic Bloomington Lake. This is a popular trail with hikers and bikers visiting Bear Lake.

Beaver Mountain Ski Area and the nearby Logan Canyon open up even more opportunities to discover the beauty of Bear Lake by bike. The list of Logan Canyon mountain biking trails is lengthy, but here are a few of our guest favorites.

The Beaver Mountain Ski Area is a short drive from Bear Lake on Hwy 89 and is a favorite mountain biking destination for visitors to Bear Lake. There are two trails from the Beaver Mountain ski area at the top of Logan Canyon, the easy 1.9-mile Bjorr loop trail for experienced beginners and the Cottonwood Loop for a more technical mountain bike ride.
The Stump Hollow Trail is a pristine 5.3-mile singletrack trail with lots of switchbacks, a fast elevation gain and a fun downhill ride with lots of jumps! The Stump Hollow Trail is in the upper Logan Canyon and is accessed the Beaver Mountain parking lot and forms part of the Great Western Trail.
The Bunchgrass Trail is an 11.2-mile intermediate trail that starts at the trailhead near Tony Grove Lake in Logan Canyon and leads to White Pine Lake. The singletrack trail winds through firs and aspens, fields of sagebrush and open meadows with rocky challenges, high-speed cruising and miles of spectacular mountain views along the way. For a more advanced ride, the Blind Hollow Trail from Tony Grove is a narrow twisting singletrack with technical features and a “gnarly” downhill ride.
The Jardine Juniper Trail is a favorite Logan Canyon mountain bike trail for upper intermediate riders. The 11.4-mile technical singletrack begins at the Woods Camp campground and climbs 1,850 ft through meadows and aspen groves to Utah’s oldest tree, the 3,200 year old Rocky Mountain Jardine Juniper.
